These terms explain what you are paying for when you bring tapes, cassettes or discs to us for conversion. By sending an enquiry or leaving media with us you confirm you have read and accept them. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. What you are paying for
Our charges cover the time, handling, equipment use and technical processing required to assess and convert each item supplied. Charges are for the conversion work itself. They are not based on the entertainment, sentimental, commercial or personal value of the footage recovered.
2. No guarantee of footage quality or content
The resulting picture and sound quality depends on the original tape's condition, recording quality, age, storage history and any deterioration already present. We cannot guarantee that footage will be viewable, complete, clear, free from tracking issues or of a particular quality. We do not enhance or restore footage beyond the transfer unless agreed in advance.
3. We are not a viewing service
You are responsible for deciding which tapes you want converted. We do not preview tapes for you to choose from, and we do not select, edit out or judge content on your behalf. Many older tapes contain footage that is no longer wanted, duplicated, blank, incomplete or impossible to identify in advance.
A processing fee applies to every tape we handle. Where processing work has been carried out, the applicable charge remains payable whether or not the recovered content turns out to be wanted, remembered or enjoyed.
4. Blank, damaged or unrecorded tapes
If a tape is blank, badly damaged, unreadable, contains only limited footage, or cannot be fully recovered because of its age or condition, a processing fee may still apply where time and technical work have been undertaken. We always use reasonable care and skill when handling and processing your media.
5. Tape condition and risk
Older tapes can be fragile and may already have deterioration, mould, breakage, tracking problems or other faults. While we take reasonable care, we cannot accept liability for issues inherent in the original media, or for loss of picture or sound quality caused by its pre-existing condition. Repairs to damaged tapes are carried out only where agreed.
6. Prices and turnaround
Prices start from £10 per tape at standard rates. The final price for your job will be confirmed before work begins. Turnaround is usually 3–4 days and will be confirmed for your order.
7. Your responsibilities
Please only supply recordings you are entitled to copy and that do not contain unlawful material. Keep any original labels or notes that may help identify your tapes; we cannot guarantee identification of their contents. Your original tapes are returned to you.
8. Your enquiry details
